Children with Serious Emotional Disorders (CSED)

What is the Children with Serious Emotional Disorders Waiver?

Valley Healthcare System proudly supports the CSEDW program, which offers enhanced Medicaid services to children aged three to 21 who are experiencing significant mental, behavioral, or emotional health challenges. This program is designed to keep children within their families and communities, avoiding placement in care facilities or group homes. By remaining at home or within their community, these children receive specialized services aimed at improving their overall well-being.

The CSEDW program is part of West Virginia’s Medicaid Home and Community-Based Services (HCBS) waiver, allowing children with serious emotional disorders to access additional resources through the National Wraparound Initiative model. This strengths-based approach leverages the capabilities of both the child and their family, fostering growth and positive change. The model is centered on the child's needs, actively involving them in the planning process to develop necessary skills for stability and resilience.

At Valley Healthcare System, we focus on empowering children to achieve their personal goals while supporting their families in managing and overcoming challenges. Our aim is to ensure that every child can remain in a stable home environment, equipped with the skills and support they need to thrive.
